Alan McKinnon, keynote på Transporteffektivitetsdagen

Vi har frågat Alan C McKinnon, Professor of Logistics at Kühne Logistics University, Hamburg, vad som är den allra viktigaste trenden just nu inom transportsektorn. Han svarar att till år 2030 har klimatfrågan blivit den tyngsta faktorn för förändringar när det gäller godstransporter.

"I predict that by 2030 climate change will have become a major driver of change in the freight transport sector – from different directions. On the mitigation side, carriers and shippers will have to operate within tight carbon quotas and / or be subject to a strict emissions trading regime. On the adaptation side, climate will have significantly altered by 2030, particularly in the frequency, intensity and duration of extreme weather events, forcing changes to the design of logistics systems and the way they are operated. Freight transport will also be sensitive to the wider economic and geopolitical disturbances that will accompany climate change and the radical measures that governments will have to introduce to cope with it."
