Focus meeting in digitized logistics inspired 54 participants from the industry!

Thursday, June 8, 2023

On May 26, CLOSER arranged, through its theme area DIGILOG, a focus meeting within HCT (High Capacity Transport) and access management for sustainable transport. DIGILOG's chairman Per Olof Arnäs set the course and invited four experts who together provided an overall picture of challenges and opportunities within the industry.

– Access management is a complex and often expensive process. When an actor wants access to a limited resource such as a loading dock, a road or a container, a lot of data needs to be collected and processed. Creating a generic digital infrastructure where everything from permits to goods delivery can be handled becomes a strategic issue in many different types of business.

First to present was Stefan Jacobsson from the School of Economics at the University of Gothenburg, who talked about access management in cities and ports. Stefan placed particular emphasis on collaboration and that there is great value in sharing information; for example, that trucks in a port can provide valuable information to the city to coordinate more sustainable transport in real-time.

Thomas Asp from the Swedish Transport Administration shared previous and ongoing projects in intelligent access management that have been carried out in Sweden, for example, a project where geofenced vehicles are included. He also talked about how data can help secure vibrant rural areas.

The next person was Kristina Andersson from RISE with long experience and great competence within the legal perspective. Kristina told, among other things, about a number of legal cases and their outcome, as well as what data authorities are actually allowed to collect and how.

Finally, Fredrik Cederstav from RISE presented the HCT City project. He emphasized the importance of measuring to be able to change and the importance of working with behavioral change, even if it is often about cultural issues inherited from history. He also gave an update on the CEDR project.

Subsequent discussion between participants and presenters was exciting and inspiring and we look forward to following developments in the industry further.

– A good webinar, you can't wait to continue.

The meeting brought together more than 50 committed participants from the entire logistics chain

In the autumn, we will hold more focus meetings within Digitized Logistics, but with other angles. Keep your eyes open or on LinkedIn so you don't miss them.
