Integrated system solutions

Data

To enable communication between the city (as road authority), vehicles, sensors, and road users, data exchange platforms are required to facilitate the exchange of data between different entities in the system. How this should work and what it will look like in the future needs further investigation, which is the focus of this part of the project.

In the tests conducted, Technolution is responsible for the shared system solution. They have developed a central data exchange platform from which actors participating in the tests can deliver and retrieve data. They also assist cities in reformatting data to be communicated from their internal systems, making it machine-readable for the recipients.

Drawing on knowledge from the tests and previous insights into data exchange platforms, we will explore how this ecosystem can be designed to enable interoperability throughout the data exchange chain, between the city, infrastructure, and vehicles. We will also ensure that communication to vehicles is received correctly regardless of the fleet management system and vehicle brand. Additionally, security aspects of the system solution will be investigated, and recommendations will be developed.

In summary, this part of the project will:

  • Support the pilots testing smart solutions by creating a central data exchange platform
  • Develop recommendations for standardizing data exchange nodes along the entire chain
  • Generate recommendations for increased security in the system

Smart urban traffic zones

Smart urban traffic zones aim to create smart solutions in the city that contribute to increased flexibility in how urban space is used, more efficient transport and increased traffic safety. The goal is to fill the gaps identified in earlier stages of the project and dig deeper into the parts that create the prerequisites for the implementation of smart zones.
