The theme of the day:
From vision, through construction, to transport solutions for future dense cities
Read about two of the Keynote speakers Karen Vancluysen and Lars Marcus:
Karen Vancluysen was appointed as Executive Director of Polis in September 2014, after having been the network's Research Director for 8 years. Prior to joining POLIS as senior research coordinator in 2004, she was Network Manager at Access-Eurocities for a New Mobility Culture and project manager at Langzaam Verkeer, a Belgian centre for mobility management. Since 1998, she has been involved in urban transport networking and policy activities and many EU transport and urban mobility projects as partner, work package leader and project coordinator.
Lars Marcus is an architect and professor in Urban Design at Chalmers University of technology where he leads the research group Spatial Morphology Group (SMoG). His research concerns how spatial form, as defined by architecture and urban design, supports, structures and sets limits to people’s everyday life and in extension of this how spatial form conditions vital social, economic and ecological urban processes, such as social integration, local markets and urban ecosystems. Hence, spatial morphology here constitutes a form of technology that creates spatial structure for other urban systems. He is also founder and partner of the consultancy firm Spacescape, performing spatial analysis, design support and policy development in architectural and urban projects for architects, municipalities and real estate companies.
