Smarter construction logistics through dialogue and smart governance

måndag, juni 13, 2016

Construction is a necessity to create attractive and sustainable cities. This includes the expansion of infrastructure, development of new residential areas and renovation of buildings. However, the transport of goods and personnel to construction sites disturbs residents, businesses and road users. By involving stakeholders, the CIVIC project contributes to increased transport and energy efficiency as well as to minimised disruptions and nuisance from construction logistics.

The CIVIC project will facilitate and support transport to, from and around urban construction sites that minimizes disruptions in the surrounding community and optimises energy efficiency.

This is done by

  • evaluation of alternative measures in a multi-actor participatory setting;
  • optimisation models for planning and impact assessment using smart data; and
  • development of smart governance concepts for successful and efficient implementation of these tools.

The CIVIC project develops models and guidelines for stakeholder dialogue, logistics optimization and smart governance that supports practitioners in the construction sector as well as authorities.

CIVIC is a JPI Urban Europe project (jpg-urbaneurope.eu), with Swedish funding from Vinnova and the Swedish Transport administration. The project started in April 2016 and will continue until September 2018, with partners from Sweden, Belgium, The Netherlands and Austria. Swedish partners are: Chalmers, Linköping University, Servistik, Stockholm stad, Swedish transport administration, and Älvstranden Utveckling.

In Sweden there will be a demonstration in Norra Djurgårdsstaden in Stockholm, that includes an multi-actor, multi-criteria analysis, an optimization of transport operations and discussions on smart governance concepts.
