The Nordic High Capacity Transport (HCT) Conference 2025
Missed the Nordic HCT Conference 2025 or want to revisit some of the most insightful moments? We have made the full conference recording for you to access anytime. You can also revisit the conference presentations in PDF. We hope the material will provide valuable insights into the state and future of High Capacity Transport (HCT) in the Nordic countries. We also want to thank you all, both IRL and online, who attended our conference.
The High Capacity Transport project is mainly financed by Trafikverket, Västra Götalandsregionen and Vinnova.
Key Highlights of the Conference:
This year’s conference marked an important milestone for sustainable freight. After years of research and political progress, HCT is now a reality on Nordic roads — but the work continues. The discussions highlighted how collaboration across municipalities, authorities, and businesses will be essential to unlock the full potential of HCT, from expanding the 34.5-meter road network to integrating electrified vehicle combinations.
We hope these presentations will serve as a valuable resource — whether you’re a municipality planning future infrastructure, a transport buyer optimizing logistics, or a manufacturer developing the next generation of vehicles. Together, we are building a more efficient, competitive, and climate-smart transport system.
The High Capacity Transport program is coordinated by CLOSER and mainly financed by Trafikverket, Västra Götalandsregionen, and Vinnova.
Agenda Overview:
This year’s conference provides valuable insights into the latest advancements in HCT, covering current research, findings from recent tests, and practical implementation experiences.
The event begain with a comprehensive review of the events that have occurred within the Swedish HCT program, including follow-up research conducted by KTH. Following this, the CEO for the Nordic Logistic Association gave an important presentation on EU legislation regarding "Weights and dimensions.".
The remaining day was divided into three sessions. Two with a focus on how we can introduce and use HCT in the best way, this includes research to get an expanded road network for 34,5 m vehicles and new vehicle combinations. One session will be about how we can electrify these vehicles.
