High-quality, sustainable services in full-service properties

Monday, May 31, 2021

The majority of Swedish people shop online on a regular basis which means that new sustainable ways of delivering parcels and managing returns are needed. At the same time, customers want a safe and convenient way of receiving parcels near their home. Against this background, the DenCity subproject Full-Service Properties has produced a complete solution for parcels, sharing schemes and local services.

– Importantly, we want Full-Service Properties to lead to services being developed and sharing schemes being set up across the whole country, says Roland Elander, DenCity subproject leader and business development manager at Sustainable Innovation.

As the name suggests, there are opportunities for developing a whole range of services and this will encourage the country's entrepreneurs to be innovative.

A system that gives access to different boxes or areas in the property will allow several companies to transport items to one property instead of to a large number of individuals. This is a rational system with a lower environmental impact. The parcels are stored safely until the customers collect them and there is also the option of managing returns. In addition, this solution should not be more expensive because several parcels can be delivered together.

As well as a more efficient transport system, other possibilities include sharing expensive or bulky items, such as children's car seats and electric drills, and collecting shoes or clothes from the shoe repairer or dry cleaner. The same system will also give access to car and cycle pools and other mobility services. As the number of services increases, so the need for cars will reduce.

– There is demand among property owners for a system that links together a number of different benefits, says Roland Elander. This also applies to property managers, because tools can be safely stored on site and are easily accessible, for example.

Full-service properties are dependent on both a physical and a digital infrastructure.

– All the courier companies now have their own apps, but many of them have responded positively to the idea of a shared solution. A neutral player like Amido can bring the solution together and ensure easy access. Everyone's talking about openness, but more companies need to put it into practice, says Johnny Berlic, CEO of Amido.

– The scenario could involve several players who can provide this type of service, but it would need an open infrastructure and an access broker, concludes Johnny Berlic.
