FR8RAIL II Mid-term Conference – Digitalization and Automation of Freight Rail
Trafikverket, the FR8RAIL II project and NJS – Forum for Nordic Railway Association, are pleased to invite you to a Mid-term Conference on Digitalization and Automation of Freight Rail.
Shift2Rail is the first European rail initiative to seek focused research and innovation (R&D) and market-driven solutions by accelerating the integration of new and advanced technologies into innovative rail product solutions. In Innovation programme 5 (IP5), Technologies for Sustainable & Attractive European Rail Freight, where FR8RAIL II is a part, two challenges have been addressed:
- To acquire a new service-oriented profile for rail freight services based on excellence in ontime delivery at competitive prices, addressing the needs of the clientele by, inter alia, incorporating innovative valueadded services.
- To increase productivity, by addressing current operational and system weaknesses and limitations, including interoperability issues, and finding cost-effective solutions to these problems, including optimisation of existing infrastructure and fostering technology transfer from other sectors into rail freight.
